Andean Adventure: Hesburgh Hospital
This summer, my wife and myself will be traveling to Ecuador on behalf of Andean Health Development
and the two charitable, rural hospitals the group has founded in the
country. I hope that you will help the Hesburgh Hospital in Santo
Domingo reach its fundraising goal and in turn help provide high quality
health care to some of Latin America’s poorest people.
Why?
Because
access to quality health care has a special meaning to me. It saved my wife’s
life.
She was blessed to have trained amazing doctors to care for and treat her.
My trip – and all the funds I raise for
it – will help give such amazing care to others.
These two hospitals are unique in that they are locally staffed,
provide the highest quality of care, and are (or are on their way to
being) financially self-sustainable. AHD also trains local, rural
doctors in Family Medicine. They are giving the kind of care that we experienced.
I hope that you will donate and help bring the Hesburgh Hospital to full service and financial self-sustainability. And to help another family have the same blessing I have of more time with loved ones. Thank you!

Andean Adventure: 4 for 4 to Ecuador
I
am traveling to Ecuador for 4 days this summer to visit two charitable hospitals
that I have been supporting. These two hospitals were founded by my
friend, David Gaus, and are unique in that they are locally staffed,
provide the highest quality of care, and are (or are on their way to
being) financially self-sustainable. AHD also trains local, rural
doctors in Family Medicine.
Andean Health is now also special in that the hospitals are still standing after the devastating earthquake on April 16th. Now, more than ever, this cause is critical and important.
Why do I help?
Because I can, but also because access to quality health care has a special meaning to me. It saved my life just six months after beginning a beautiful future with my husband. I was blessed to have trained amazing doctors to care for and treat me only 1 hour from my home. And one of the most powerful ways to honor such a blessing is to give such an opportunity to others. All of the funds I raise thru this campaign will do that.
Please
support my 4 for 4 campaign- That’s $4,000 for AHD for 4 days in Ecuador. Your donation – all of it – will provide
high quality health care to some of Latin America’s poorest people. Struggling before and in desperate need now.
A donation of just $40 – more if you can – will make a tremendous difference. Help them have a blessing like mine. Thank you!

Hillcrest Transisitional Housing of Buchanan County
Hillcrest Transitional Housing offers homeless families, singles & youth a disciplined educational program within a caring, supportive environment. Unlike many organizations whose focus is one-time or emergency care, Hillcrest’s primary objective is to move clients from homelessness to self-sufficiency within 90 days by addressing the total life situation of the homeless families they serve; longer term transitional housing options may be available to clients with excessive barriers to housing. Hillcrest also provides a transitional housing program for homeless teens and young adults, ages 16-20, who have an educational goal. This unique program offers housing & supportive services for up to 24 months.
In exchange for rent/utility-free housing, adults are required by written agreement to find full-time employment, obey program guidelines and attend weekly volunteer-taught classes in life skills, employment, community living and budgeting. Hillcrest also provides to clients in the transitional housing programs the following, through a network of community support: auto repair/donation, food pantry, medical assistance, dental work, GED classes, haircuts, glasses, school clothes, work uniforms, etc.
Please consider donating to Hillcrest. Funding for Hillcrest is solely donation based. Thank you for your consideration.
