Dear Catholic Faithful,
My name is Mitchell Gunnarson, I am a seminarian with the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest. This autumn I begin the sixth year of priestly formation with the Institute at their seminary in Gricigliano, Italy.
I need your help. I would like to raise fifteen thousand dollars this year (2025/26 academic year) to help offset the costs of my seminary formation. My expenses include my tuition of one-thousand dollars each month, personal expenses for clothing such as cassocks, socks, and shoes, toiletries, and books both for study and prayer.
This past July I and nine other men were ordained to the sub-diaconate. The above picture shows the reception of the tunic, the liturgical vestment proper to the subdeacon, which is called the “garment of joy and gladness”. The sub-diaconate is venerable by its antiquity, the first reference to it being from the year 255, when Pope Cornelius outlined a list of the clergy present in Rome, and though it comes with its obligations they serve only to fix one more firmly in a clerical and priestly life. It has been a great joy for me to take this step toward the altar, God willing, I will be ordained to the holy priesthood in two years time. Please pray for me that I would conform myself more and more each day to this vocation.
The formation of priests is of the utmost importance for the Church and the world today. Each priest ordained for Holy Mother Church impacts countless souls as they continue the work of the Redemption, offering the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass each day wherever they are in the world. Your assistance is a collaboration in this work for which I am most grateful. Please help me to continue to respond to the calling I have received. May God bless your generosity, be assured of my constant prayers for you and your intentions.
In Christo Rege,
Abbé Mitchell Gunnarson
