MoCo First Responders LLC is composed of a growing group of career first responders from Montgomery County, Maryland. Our ranks include firefighters, police officers, EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers and corrections officers.
We stand together in opposition to the proposed unconstitutional County Council Bill 34-21E. This proposed bill will terminate from employment all County employees who do not provide documentation of being “fully vaccinated” against COVID-19. Proposed amendments to this bill will also require any, and all, boosters in the future; those employees not complying with perpetual “boosters” will also face termination.
The County Council, sitting as the Board of Health, is using cherry picked and inaccurate data to propose this draconian legislation. This Bill will not make anyone safer. But will in fact jeopardize public safety and create dangerous working conditions for an already severely understaffed public safety community by taking trained, experienced first responders off the streets. This is a gross overreach of power that will have the opposite effect of its supposed intent, while destroying the careers and livelihoods of countless first responders.
Even with a newly proposed religious exemption, county employees are not safe from whatever those unexplained provisions may be. With County Council members speaking on religious exemption qualifiers such as employees providing five references to prove that said employee is, in fact, religious, our members’ religious freedoms are facing grave repercussions, undermining any religious sovereignty God has given to us, not the County Council.
Instead of honoring those who have been on the frontlines of the pandemic for the last 2 years, members of the County Government wish to dispense with all personnel who have questions about the safety, efficacy, necessity and morality of forced vaccinations. MoCo First Responders LLC seeks to bring a halt to this abuse of power through legal challenges brought by our council, Hartman Attorneys at Law. We stand ready to protect our community, our families, our religious freedom and our Constitutional rights no matter what may come.
