THE MISSION OF OUR LADY OF THE ANGELS exists
to provide material and spiritual support to West Humboldt Park, Chicago, one
of the most challenged neighborhoods in the United States. The Mission feeds
roughly 1000 families a month, provides additional material and pastoral care
to families, youth, and senior citizens, and, most importantly, brings the love
of Christ to a neighborhood desperately in need of hope.
RUNNING FOR A PURPOSE Funds will be used
to complete the renovation of the Mission’s new outreach center to the poor in
West Humboldt Park, Chicago. The space will be used for our apostolates
and include accommodations for over 60 overnight guests, a full-service kitchen
and dish room, dining room, storage space, meeting rooms, and a perpetual
Eucharistic adoration chapel.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE One neighbor recently
shared about her experience at our Tuesday food pantry: “Access to meat, milk
and eggs helps me immensely, especially living on disability. You leave this
pantry with a full cart of groceries. It is so incredible to come here
and feel valued.” To bring God’s love to others, to make
known their unique personal value, is the task of all Christians. As
Franciscans, we are humbled and blessed to serve as Christ’s hands and feet in
countless ways here on Chicago’s west side.
HOW YOU CAN HELP Last year, Team OLA
raised an incredible $205,000. We are hoping to meet or exceed this total in
2019 with your help! Please consider making a donation in whatever amount you
can pledge. Every little bit helps! Be part of the miracle that is Team OLA and
#BeTheBlessing.
