Emergency LifeFunder: Legal injunction to protect Roger Foley’s life and basic human rights

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Roger Foley’s situation at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) has now escalated to a point where an emergency court injunction is required to protect his life, health, and basic human dignity.

Despite years of advocacy and multiple legal proceedings, LHSC has continued actions that have resulted in the withdrawal of medically required accommodations, denial of safe access to food, hydration, medications, and the obstruction of outside caregivers who are ready and able to help. As well, Roger has been subjected to harassment and coercion aimed at forcing him into assisted suicide.

This LifeFunder campaign is being launched for one specific purpose only:

to raise the legal funds required to bring an urgent injunction application against LHSC, including the costs of legal representation and independent expert witnesses.

Why an Injunction Is Now Necessary

LHSC has:

  • Blocked fully licensed and insured Life Care Network PSWs from assisting Roger in hospital, despite their readiness to provide safe, non-clinical care such as feeding, hydration, and medication assistance.
  • Withheld or interfered with Roger’s access to food, fluids, and basic care, placing his health at serious risk.
  • Removed and refused to restore medically required amber-spectrum lighting accommodations, despite clear evidence that standard fluorescent and halogen lighting causes Roger neurological and visual harm.
  • Ignored or dismissed the concerns of independent disability and advocacy organizations, including support from the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB)and Vision Loss organizations, who have stated that the requested accommodations are reasonable and necessary.
  • Continued these actions even after hospital-contracted partners, including Sodexo, have confirmed that amber-spectrum lighting is safe and workable for hospital operations.

These actions have created an environment where Roger is not only unsafe, but where harm continues in the absence of court intervention.

What This LifeFunder Will Support

Funds raised will be used exclusively for:

  • Legal fees to bring an urgent injunction application before the court;
  • Costs associated with medical, disability, and human rights expert witnesses required to establish the necessity of accommodations and the harm caused by their removal;
  • Associated court and filing costs required to move the injunction forward quickly.

There is no pro bono or contingency option available for this type of urgent court relief. Without funding, the injunction cannot proceed.

Why Time Matters

An injunction is the only legal mechanism capable of:

  • Immediately restoring medically required accommodations;
  • Allowing outside caregivers to assist with basic care;
  • Preventing further harm while broader legal proceedings continue.

Without it, Roger remains trapped in a situation where his health and safety are at ongoing risk.

Thank you for standing with Roger during this critical moment. Your support is not only appreciated — it may be lifesaving.

With gratitude,

Roger Foley and Supporters
